Sitting at the cusp of Downtown and Music Row is the Comfort Inn Downtown Nashville – Music City Center. Staying at this budget chain hotel put us within walking distance of some of the best sights, bars, and restaurants in the city. We had the choice of 145 rooms and suites, all of which are accessible via an exterior corridor that overlooked the pool. What’s more, they all featured mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, microwaves, and even coffee machines. So, we actually had a space to unwind and relax rather than just a bed to sleep.

The hotel does great on amenities as well. For one, there’s the stunning seasonal outdoor pool, which is where we’d be unwinding when we weren’t exploring the city. Besides the modest fitness center, the hotel also offers a huge free spread for breakfast, complete with cold and hot items, as well as free GigaBit wi-fi throughout. Welcome to SoBro Guest House by Black Swan, whose first advantage is its heart-of-Downtown location. In fact, we were less than a five-minute walk from the famous Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. 

So, why did we include the Black Swan guesthouse on this list? Firstly, we had a choice of all sizes of apartment suites at this hotel of sorts. These included everything from apartments with double beds to larger one-bedroom ones with a double bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. Since we were a party of four, the one-bedroom apartment was more than enough for us. What’s more, all suites, including ours, boasted flatscreen TVs, ensuite bathrooms with bath products, seating areas, full kitchens, and free Wi-Fi.

Since we wanted to save money, this place was perfect for us, despite having no traditional hotel facilities. And since we were right in the heart of Downton, we’d alternate between cooking in our kitchen and stepping out to find a wide range of food options right outside our door.

We absolutely love the vibe of Music Row, a stretch of Nashville Downtown packed with music-industry recording studios and offices. What’s more, it’s also within walking distance of some of the popular Gulch area’s bars and restaurants. So, it’s a fantastic choice of a neighborhood for budget travelers like us who want to immerse themselves in Nashville’s music heritage.

That’s why we chose the 102-room chain hotel of Best Western Downtown PLUS Music Row, which sat right on the cusp of Downtown and Music Row. What could be better? The spacious and immaculate rooms were a welcome respite after a long day of traipsing around the city. What’s more, they all had flatscreen TVs, microwaves, and mini fridges.

Downstairs, this Best Western outpost boasted an outdoor swimming pool, a small fitness center, and even a computer with a printer for those who were working on vacation. Did we mention that even though there was no restaurant, there was a hot breakfast waiting every day in the morning? Yep.

Hampton Inn & Suites Nashville Downtown Capitol View

Where can you get amazing views of the Tennessee State Capitol while staying on the cheap in Nashville Downtown? At the Hampton Inn & Suites Nashville Downtown Capitol View, of course! This Hampton Inn & Suites outpost boasted some excellent views of the State Capitol from the rooftop terrace. What more could we ask for?

A lot more, apparently. Firstly, the rooftop terrace is home to not just mesmerizing State Capitol views, but also a seasonal outdoor swimming pool. The rest of the hotel was no less impressive, as there was a restaurant/bar on the property. It’s where we’d be treated to a full complimentary breakfast as well as where we’d grab pre-dinner drinks before stepping out to experience the nightlife. A 24-hour desk, a fitness center, free Wi-Fi, a shared lounge, and onsite private parking wrap up the offerings here.

The well-designed and comfy rooms were a welcome respite, especially at the end of a long day of sightseeing when we’d be very tired. The rooms certainly helped, as they all had flat-screen TVs and complimentary bath products in the modern bathrooms.

Homewood Suites by Hilton Nashville-Downtown

Since we wanted to explore the best things to see and do in Nashville, we decided to stay at Homewood Suites by Hilton Nashville-Downtown. So, we were conveniently near the State Capitol, as well as within a stone’s throw to most other amazing sights and attractions in the city.

Again, this Homewood Suites outpost was nothing like we’d ever seen. Firstly, it sat in a restored 1910 structure that’s featured on the National Register of Historic Places. We were completely taken in by the stunning atrium lobby and were impressed right off the bat. The amenities were no less amazing, which included a small fitness center, a business center, a free grocery shopping service, and even a convenience store. If that wasn’t enough, they even hosted a weekday manager’s reception with free drinks and a light dinner! Now, if that isn’t value for money, we don’t know what is.

Choose from 113 suites, including studios and one-bedroom suites, all of which boast free Wi-Fi, sleeper sofas, sitting areas, and kitchens.

Sitting right down the street from the Tennessee State Capitol is The Capitol Hotel Downtown, Ascend Hotel Collection. We loved the new look of this modern, midrange hotel fresh off a 2015 renovation. With just 100 rooms and suites, we found that it was a very intimate and exclusive staying experience, even though it was larger than even a boutique hotel. We didn’t have to burn a hole in our pockets, and yet we were treated to a boatload of frills and perks. For instance, the rooms boasted not just comfortable and plush beds but also mini-fridges, free Wi-Fi (throughout the hotel, by the way),

Not just the digs, but even the amenities exceeded our expectations here. Firstly, we were treated to free hot breakfasts every day, which would fuel us for the entire day. What’s more, there would be free tea and coffee waiting for us in the lobby all day long. Since it fills up during busy weekends and major conventions, we’d advise you to plan ahead and book earlier.

Home2 Suites by Hilton Nashville Downtown Convention Center

Best extended stay hotel. We were immediately enamored by the funky lobby of the 119-room Home2 Suites by Hilton Nashville Downtown Convention Center. Think joyful pops of color ranging from the blue wall decals and orange cushions to lime green chairs. What’s more, it was close to the sights and restaurants of Downtown Nashville, which meant that we could stay out late and yet saunter into our digs anytime we wanted. Some of the rooms, including ours, had similarly bold designs like the lobby, with accent pillows and colorful wallpaper. What’s more, our one-bedroom suite even had a kitchenette where we could whip up simple meals when we wanted to save money and not eat outside.

One of the nicest amenities at this hotel was the charming outdoor patio, complete with steel furniture and string lights. Despite there being no full restaurant, the hotel served us a lovely (and complimentary) breakfast spread! Furthermore, the hotel even had laundry facilities, a 24-hour fitness center, and a 24-hour convenience store for bath products and snacks.

Margaritaville Hotel Nashville

Best value-for-money. When it comes to finding the most value-filled hotel in Nashville, look no further than The Margaritaville Hotel. Imagine finding everything from the most gorgeous looking outdoor pool and sun terraces to concierge services in an affordable package. That’s Margaritaville for you! We loved the rooms, which offered some much-needed respite at the end of the day. Not only did our room have a plush bed, a modern bathroom, and huge windows with light pouring in, but it also had a flatscreen TV and a fridge. Did we mention the free Wi-Fi? It helped us plan our itinerary for the next day.

Imagine an affordable hotel with some serious wow factor; that’s The Russell for you. Sitting in a former 115-year-old church, it retains many of the church’s original elements, including a set of seriously Instagrammable stained-glass windows.

We had the choice of many differently sized and shaped rooms, but they all had beautiful color palettes, lots of natural light, and smartly designed charging stations. Modern bathrooms aside, the rooms also had fridges, coffeemakers, and free bath products, which was excellent. Despite there being no restaurant on the property, it’s surrounded by some lovely cafes and places where we could easily grab a bite, no matter the time of the day. That’s why it’s one of the .

We loved some of the little-known-but-large-hearted things here, like the management offering free recording spaces to local podcasters and donating a part of every day’s proceeds to a homelessness charity.

Where to Stay in Nashville Downtown?

Nashville might be smaller than some other state capitals, but it’s not a small city by any margin. So, we had to choose which neighborhood we wanted to stay in.

We begin with Downtown and the Gulch, which is the beating heart and hub of Nashville. Not only is it home to SoBro (South of Broadway) with all its best parks and musical venues, but it’s also home to some of Nashville’s best entertainmentm dining, and shopping. Next, there’s the boho East Nashville, which has everything from vintage and eclectic boutiques and stores to modern chef-owned restaurants serving delectable Southern fare.

We were also interested in Midtown, a bustling area west of the city center and home to a fun and exciting nightlife and the Vanderbilt University. While Germantown and North Nashville are more known for their day and destination spas, we did find a nice bunch of affordable spas there.
